Since 6 July 2026, you can renew an existing NBI clearance in the eGovPH app. In the app, go to NGAs → National Bureau of Investigation → NBI Clearance, check your details, choose pick-up or delivery and pay. It takes a few minutes, and you also get a digital copy of the clearance in the app.
It costs ₱160 if you collect it at an NBI clearance center, or ₱360 (Metro Manila) and ₱510 (elsewhere) with delivery. You need a verified eGovPH account. It’s for renewals only, so first-time applicants and anyone whose details have changed still go to a branch.
| Who can use it | Verified eGovPH users renewing an existing NBI clearance with no changes |
| Cost | ₱160 for pick-up; ₱360 delivered in Metro Manila; ₱510 delivered elsewhere |
| How you get it | Pick-up at an NBI clearance center or door-to-door delivery, plus a digital copy in the app |
| Branch visit | None, unless you choose pick-up |
| Not for | First-time applicants, name changes and corrections |
| Valid for | One year from the new clearance’s issue date |

Who can renew an NBI clearance through eGovPH?
You can use it if all three of these apply:
- Your eGovPH account is verified. An unverified account can’t open the NBI service.
- You already have an NBI clearance. The app renews an existing record; it doesn’t create a new one.
- Nothing about you has changed since your last clearance: same name, birth details and civil status.
First-time applicants still need a branch visit for their photo and fingerprints. Here’s how to apply for an NBI clearance step by step. If your surname, civil status or another detail has changed, renew at a branch with the PSA document that proves it.
Before you start: verify your eGovPH account
If you haven’t used eGovPH yet, set it up first. Verification is the step that takes the longest, so do it a day before you need to renew.
- Register. Install eGovPH, enter your mobile number and the one-time password sent by SMS, create a 6-digit MPIN and add your email address.
- Start verification. Go to your profile and choose the option to verify your account.
- Enter your details exactly as on your National ID, including your middle name and any suffix, then enter your PhilSys Card Number (PCN). It’s on your National ID card or your ePhilID.
- Take the live selfie. Follow the prompts, such as blinking or turning your head. Good light helps, and so does taking off glasses, a hat or a mask.
- Wait for confirmation. It usually arrives within a few hours, but it can take up to a day.
Verification often fails when the name you type doesn’t match your PhilSys record letter for letter.
How much eGovPH renewal costs
| Item | Pick-up | Delivered in Metro Manila | Delivered elsewhere |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clearance fee | ₱130 | ₱130 | ₱130 |
| Convenience fee | ₱30 | ₱30 | ₱30 |
| Delivery | None | ₱200 | ₱350 |
| Total | ₱160 | ₱360 | ₱510 |
The app shows the exact total before you pay. Pick-up is the cheapest way to renew without booking a branch appointment. Delivery costs about the same as NBI’s regular online renewal.
How to renew your NBI clearance on eGovPH, step by step
Step 1 — Open the NBI Clearance service
Log in to eGovPH with your MPIN. Tap NGAs, then National Bureau of Investigation, then NBI Clearance.
Step 2 — Check your details
The app shows the clearance already on file. Check your name, birth date and birthplace. If it asks you to fill in a field, such as your place of birth, enter it exactly as it appears on your last clearance. Then tick the box confirming your details are correct and tap Renew Clearance.
Step 3 — Choose pick-up or delivery
- Pick-up: choose the NBI clearance center where you’ll collect it. There’s no delivery fee.
- Door-to-door delivery: enter the full address, including barangay and ZIP code, and a mobile number the courier can reach.
Step 4 — Pay
Choose a payment method. The app accepts GCash, Maya, ShopeePay, Visa and Mastercard cards, online banking and over-the-counter channels such as 7-Eleven. Save your reference number, because you’ll need it to follow up.
Step 5 — Get your clearance
If you chose pick-up, bring a valid ID and your reference number to the clearance center you picked. If you chose delivery, keep your phone on for the courier. Either way, a digital copy of your renewed clearance appears in the app.
The digital copy in the app
After renewal, your clearance is also stored in eGovPH, so you can show it on your phone. That’s handy, but many employers and agencies still expect the printed clearance. Ask before you rely on the digital copy alone, and keep the paper one safe.
eGovPH, NBI online renewal or a branch?
All three give you the same one-year clearance. The difference is what you need, what you pay and how you get it. NBI’s own online renewal with delivery asks for the NBI ID number printed on your old clearance, while eGovPH finds your record through your verified account. That makes eGovPH worth trying if you’ve lost your old clearance.
| Way to renew | What you need | Cost | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| eGovPH app | A verified eGovPH account | ₱160 pick-up; ₱360 or ₱510 delivered | Pick-up or delivery, plus a digital copy |
| NBI online renewal | The NBI ID number from a clearance issued after 2014 | ₱355–₱360 (Metro Manila) or ₱505–₱510 | Delivery only |
| Branch renewal | An appointment and two valid IDs | ₱155–₱160 | Same day if there’s no HIT |
Only the branch handles changes and corrections.
If eGovPH renewal doesn’t work
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| You can’t find the NBI service | Check that your account is verified. Unverified accounts see only a few services |
| The app can’t find your clearance | Renew through NBI’s online renewal with your NBI ID number, or at a branch |
| Your NBI record and National ID show different names | Update your NBI record at a branch first, with the PSA document that explains the difference |
| Your details have changed | Renew at a branch; eGovPH can’t make changes |
| Your renewal is held for checking | This can happen when your name matches a record; follow the instructions in the app |
One example is a married woman whose National ID shows her married surname while her NBI record still has her maiden name. Our guide to changing your last name on your NBI clearance explains how to update it. If your renewal is held because of a name match, read what a HIT on your NBI clearance means.
